IN OGNUNO LA TRACCIA DI OGNUNO

Marinella Senatore

Painted aluminium and LED bulbs, 15 x 1.7 m

Commissioned by the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo for the San Licerio hill, the large multi-coloured light sculpture is what Marinella Senatore calls a "monument to people here and now". From afar, in the night, it appears like a phantasmagoria; up close, it creates a special space, a place of encounter and community. Inspired by the luminarias typical of southern Italian village festivals and the friezes of Baroque architecture, it was made by Apulian craftsmen to the artist's design. The phrase that composes it is the result of a collective collection of unpublished thoughts and literary quotations, a participatory process that involved, through the Civic Library, schools, associations and the citizenship of Guarene. Among the many proposals of this intergenerational group, Marinella Senatore chose the verse of a poem by Primo Levi dedicated to and entitled Agli amici, “To My Friends”. “Friends 'in the broad sense of the word:/wife, sister, associates, relatives/ schoolmates of both sexes/ people seen only once/ or frequented all my life”. "In each the trace of each".
